in Raj Bhavan ahead of upcoming bypolls in ten seats in the state. Earlier in the day, the chief minister also met ministers from the state at his residence to discuss the upcoming Assembly by polls in 10 constituencies.
The meeting comes weeks after the

Lok Sabha elections

, in which the ruling BJP faced a significant drop, reducing to 33 seats—a loss of 29 seats since 2019.

The INDIA bloc gained momentum with the Samajwadi Party winning 37 seats, an increase of 32 seats from 2019, and the Congress securing six seats.
Finance minister Suresh Khanna stated after the meeting, "The meeting today focused on the upcoming elections, and we are determined to win all 10 assembly seats where by-elections are scheduled."
All Cabinet ministers and ministers of state from Uttar Pradesh attended the meeting, according to PTI quoting sources.

Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh, who was also present, mentioned that discussions included flood management and developmental projects.
Nine of these seats became vacant after the MLAs resigned following their success in the Lok Sabha elections. Karhal (Mainpuri) was vacated by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who resigned after winning the Lok Sabha seat from Kannauj. The Sisamau assembly seat in Kanpur Nagar, held by SP's Irfan Solanki, was declared vacant after his disqualification due to a seven-year imprisonment sentence by an MP/MLA court.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday took to X and reiterated his assertion that the party is bigger than the government. "The organisation is bigger than the government, the pain of the workers is my pain. No one is bigger than the organisation, the workers are the pride," the post shared by the office of the deputy CM on X said.
The deputy chief minister also met Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda on Tuesday – as the party works out its strategy following its poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
