Unlicensed driver accused of hitting pedestrians, including girl, 7, in Queens

ASTORIA, Queens (PIX11) --- An unlicensed driver is accused of hitting multiple people, including a 7-year-old girl, after reversing onto a sidewalk near a Queens school Thursday, police said.

Salmata Bah, 35, was driving a Nissan Versa when she allegedly struck three pedestrians near 37th Street and 35th Avenue in Astoria at around 5:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Two girls, ages 7 and 14, and a 58-year-old man were injured when the truck hit them after backing up onto the sidewalk. The 7-year-old suffered a broken leg, a head injury, and other bodily injuries, police said. The teen had leg injuries, and the man was treated for contusions and pain in his legs.

The pedestrians were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Bah was arrested an hour after the incident and charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving and unlicensed operator, according to the NYPD.

Her arraignment was pending on Friday, according to court records.
