UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) – The Union Square Night Market, which features an array of local food vendors, is taking place for the first time in New York City on Thursday.
The Union Square Night Market runs from noon to 9 p.m. at the south plaza of Union Square Park in Manhattan.
The market features more than 20 food vendors serving up street food and gourmet offerings, including jerk chicken, burritos and tamales, rice bowls, banh mi sandwiches, po'boy sandwiches and more.
Urbanspace is the organizer of the Union Square Night Market. The company is known for its pop-up markets around New York City.
“We are thrilled to bring a new local food event to one of the best community spaces in New York City,” Urbanspace President Eldon Scott said.
The Union Square Night Market will be held the next three Thursdays on July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1 from noon to 9 p.m.
The night market will coincide each week with the evening entertainment lineup of the Union Square Partnership’s Summer in the Square series, which includes live music, dance performances and movie nights.
"Adding Urbanspace to our Summer in the Square lineup this year further positions Union Square as the place to be on Thursdays this summer,” said Julie Stein, the executive director of the Union Square Partnership.
