Present Union Health Secretary and 1991 batch IAS officer, Sudhansh Pant has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Rajasthan. Pant is currently the Secretary, health and family welfare in central government and has served as the Shipping secretary earlier.
His vast experience in strategic planning, particularly in the health sector, played a pivotal role in his selection for this crucial administrative role.
Pant's contributions to the ministry included playing a key role in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak, showcasing his leadership during the challenging times of the pandemic.
Over the last five years, Pant has actively participated in drafting several important bills, addressing critical issues such as the reduction of medicine and medical device prices. Many of these bills have now materialised into significant policies.
Pant has held crucial appointments both at the state and central levels during his distinguished 30-year career. Notably, he managed the colossal Covid medical relief operations in the Health Ministry, navigating through the challenges as the Joint Secretary.
Hailing from Khantoli Berinag in Pithoragarh district, Sudhansh Pant is the son of JC Pant, Chief Engineer of the electricity department, and housewife Veena Pant.
His educational journey includes completing his schooling at St. Joseph's College, Nainital, followed by engineering studies at IIT Kharagpur.
