Amidst the ever-straining ties between the two nations,
Kremlin
on Wednesday claimed that nothing good for
Russia
came during former President Donald
Trump
's presidency. However, Moscow said that despite this there was '
dialogue
' between the two countries which was a positive thing.
"As for (Putin and Trump) getting along or not getting along, under Trump nothing good was done for Russia," said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry
Peskov
when questioned about the relationship between Trump and Putin.
"On the contrary, more and more restrictions were imposed (on Russia). But nevertheless, there was dialogue. This can probably be considered a positive element," he added.
There have been numerous allegations against Russia for meddling in the previous US presidential elections, with both parties claiming that Moscow tried to favour the other.
During his press conference, Peskov also said that both Russia and Putin traditionally came up during election campaigns in the United States.
Russia has been trying to play both sides ahead of the US presidential polls with the Kremlin claiming that Biden created an atmosphere that provoked an attack on Trump, while also saying that it 'had no' plans of contacting the former president after the attack on his life.
"We do not believe that the attempt to eliminate and assassinate Trump was organised by the current authorities," Peskov had said.
"But the atmosphere around candidate Trump...provoked what America is confronting today," he added.
