BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Two men are recovering Tuesday after a violent robbery attempt over a moped in Brooklyn.

A food delivery worker was filling up his moped Tuesday at a Sunset Park Shell station when he was suddenly held up at knifepoint by two masked suspects, according to a witness.

“The guy said, ‘Give me your motorcycle. Give me your keys.’ He said, ‘No, I’m not giving my motorcycle,’” said Pedro Savaadra, who was having his van fixed.

When the 25-year-old victim refused, the situation escalated into a bloody fight.

“Two guys show up and were trying to, like, take it from him. Then a fight broke out, and he got stabbed,” said Chris Rodriguez, a mechanic at the service center on 5th Avenue.

Witnesses said the suspects spoke Spanish and kept their faces covered.

A 34-year-old man who saw the commotion intervened and was also stabbed multiple times in the melee.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Rodriguez added. Rodriguez and another gas station worker said police were unable to retrieve video evidence from the scene.

“They’re trying to get video, but they say the camera doesn’t work,” he said.

Rodriguez noted the prevalence of mopeds in the neighborhood, adding to concerns about alleged gang activity.

Earlier in the week, 72nd precinct detectives released images of suspects in separate robbery incidents in the neighborhood, stating that people have been terrorized by criminals on mopeds in recent weeks.

The NYPD has been cracking down on unlicensed mopeds in 2024, citing their increasing use in crimes citywide.

No arrests have been made in the double stabbing case. The victims are expected to recover, thanks to the quick actions of witnesses and first responders who applied tourniquets.
