Apple's iOS 18 features a dedicated virtual power button in the Control Centre, simplifying the iPhone shutdown process. The update resolves power control confusion since the removal of the Home button on iPhone X, providing a more intuitive solution for users.
Apple at times makes things a little more complicated than usual. And turning off the iPhone is one of them. Ever since Apple removed the Home button, the process of turning off an iPhone has become so complicated that at times people tend to forget how to actually turn it off. However, with
iOS 18
, things are about to become easier and simpler.
Apple iOS 18 comes with a dedicated power button
Earlier pressing and holding the power button was used to bring up the power off slider on the home screen.
Swiping it left to right is used to turn off the iPhone. However, Apple changed that and pressing and holding the power button, on modern iPhones involves Siri and to turn off the iPhone users have to press and hold both the side button and a volume button to turn of the device.
With iOS 18, Apple has added a dedicated
virtual power button
in the Control Centre which is now updated with new customisation options that are now a part of the entire Apple iOS and iPadOS ecosystem.
The addition of the dedicated virtual power button which is placed at the top-right corner. Tapping on the power button brings up the turn-off slider – sort of old-school-like. Sliding it left to right turn off the iPhone.
Press that button, and the standard power slider will appear on the screen so you can turn off your iPhone.
In iOS 18, accessing the
Control Center
remains unchanged: simply swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. New to this version, however, is the addition of a power button located in the same corner. This update aims to resolve the power control confusion that has persisted since the iPhone X eliminated the Home button seven years ago, offering a more intuitive solution for users.
