BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The fraud and extortion trial of a Brooklyn bishop is set to begin Monday.

Prosecutors claimed Lamor Miller-Whitehead looted a parishioner's retirement savings and tried to shake down a businessman. The stolen funds were allegedly used to bankroll the lavish lifestyle of Miller-Whitehead, who investigators said was known to drive a Rolls Royce and wear high-end clothing.

The bishop made headlines months before his arrest after he was robbed of more than $1 million in jewelry during a live-streamed church service.

Miller-Whitehead is free on $500,000 bail. He pled not guilty in the case.
