CHESTER, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A New York man was arrested in connection with the shooting of a DoorDash delivery driver on May 2.
The incident happened in the neighborhood of Valerie Drive in Chester.
According to New York State Police, the victim, a DoorDash delivery driver, was trying to deliver food to a residence when he became lost. Unable to navigate using the app, the driver approached several homes to ask for directions.
Police say one resident, identified as John J. Reilly III, told the driver to get off his property. As the victim attempted to leave in his vehicle, Reilly allegedly opened fire and shot him in the back.
Police charged Reilly, the current Town of Chester Highway Superintendent, with assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Reilly was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail. A preliminary hearing was set for May 9. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police Monroe at (845) 344-5300.
