NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Brazilian tourist was shot in the leg at a store in Times Square Thursday evening, police said.
The woman was at JD Sports on Broadway when three people were stopped by store security for allegedly shoplifting around 7 p.m., according to police.
The three people tried to flee and a security guard chased after them, police said. At least one of the alleged shoplifters shot at the security guard but missed and hit the tourist, according to police. The woman was taken to a hospital.
Police were able to apprehend one suspect in connection to the incident. The other individuals fled and haven't been caught, officials said.
