MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The above-ground mini pool in Manhattan's Tompkins Square Park is getting a facelift, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.
It's set to be replaced with an in-ground pool that can hold double the capacity.
Over $6 million was set aside by the state to reconstruct and expand the pool, Hochul said on Wednesday.
New York City's Parks Department will also replace the filtration system, expand the pool decks, replace fencing and gates and add outdoor showers and a new lifeguard chair.
The Van Cortlandt Park Pool Complex, the Hamilton Fish Recreation Center pool, the Averne East Aquatic Center and the Hansborough Recreation Center pool will also be renovated with money given by the state, according to Hochul.
