Times of India Sports Awards return for 6th edition; jury meet on Feb 1

NEW DELHI: To honour Indian sportspersons and their relentless pursuit for excellence, The

Times of India

is back with the 6th edition of its flagship property

. It will be held in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, on February 23, 2024, and will see the presence of some of the biggest names from the world of Indian sports.
Like last year, this year’s theme too is #MoreSweatMoreGlory as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of our athletes and para-athletes across different sports who shone the brightest in 2023.

While honouring the past and present stars of Indian sports, TOISA also aims to nurture the future of sports in India so that more and more youngsters are inspired to follow their dreams.
Talking about the significance of

TOISA 2023

, Prasad Sanyal, Business Head, Times Internet, said, “Ever since its inception, TOISA has been committed to recognising the incredible talent of our emerging and seasoned sportspersons. This year too, we are back with yet another exciting edition of the Awards. With categories spanning different sports and an illustrious jury panel, it’s our endeavour to celebrate the best of Indian sports and para sports at this year’s TOISA.”

There are over 20 categories of awards this year and the nominees are a mixed bag comprising the rising and shining stars of Indian sports and para sports.
The winners will be decided by a distinguished jury consisting of legendary Indian sports personalities, including Paralympic champion and Padma Shri Awardee Deepa Malik, Olympic medal-winning weightlifter Karnam Malleswari and hockey star Zafar Iqbal, who brought home the gold from the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

Joining them are long jump star and Vice-President, Athletics Federation of India, Anju Bobby George; badminton coach and two-time Padma Awardee Pullela Gopichand; Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt and Vice- President, IOA, Olympic medal-winning shooter Gagan Narang.
The jury will be chaired by Adille Sumariwalla, President, Athletics Federation of India, and Vice-President, World Athletics.
The

jury meet

is scheduled to take place in Delhi on February 1, 2024, and the winners will be decided after a stringent selection process that will take into consideration several parameters.
The awards will be given out in the grand ceremony that is set to take place in Lucknow in February.
