The site is located approximately 90 km from the capital. According to officials an explosion took place at Jawaharpur sugar mill when work was going on in the factory, and the explosion was so strong due to which the workers died on spot.
The incident occurred around 4 pm when cleaning was being done by the mill employees and labourers when suddenly the tank burst with a loud noise killing three on spot.

The tank burst due to an increase in pressure. Whose lid bounced off and hit the tin shed of the mill. Along with the lid, a worker also jumped and got trapped in the tin shed. Due to which both his legs were amputated, said the police.
According to Sitapur SDM Sadar Gyanendra Dwivedi that the blast took place in a newly set up ethanol tank while doing rehearsal before its proper functioning.

CM Yogi Adityanath also took cognizance of the accident and expressed grief while instructing the District Magistrate of Sitapur to immediately reach the spot and decide for treatment of the injured. The CM has also expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the accident in the sugar mill.
While Sitapur police confirming the death of three, identified the deceased and sent them to the mortuary for post-mortem. “The deceased workers were identified as Avtaar Singh (28) of Ramkot, Sitapur, Raju Maurya (43), and Vinod Singh (42), both residents of Bareilly,” said Chakresh Mishra, SP, Sitapur.

“The accident happened after a blast took place in the fermentation chamber after a sudden build-up of vapour in the grain tank of a newly built ethanol distillery,” said Sitapur District Magistrate Anuj Singh while talking to media personnel. The DCM said that three people died on spot but as per the company’s officials no one else was hurt. “The deceased has been sent for post-mortem.”
The factory was new, incident happened during trial
The plant was not operating normally, according to the officials and representatives of the sugar mill, and the incident occurred during a trial run that was carried out to expand the production unit.
“As per the company official, the factory is not a running one as work was done only on a trial basis. The fire in the boiler took place in an unforeseen circumstance,” said the DM.
