NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – Thousands of locals showed up for an open call casting for Netflix’s "Happy Gilmore 2," which will film across New Jersey.

Casting company Grant Wifley Casting is searching for extras for the movie, which will film scenes in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset counties. An open casting call Tuesday at the Morristown Hyatt Regency had a “fantastic” turnout, according to the company.

The movie will be filmed in September and November. Locals who want to take a supporting role in the movie can still submit online to be an extra in the movie. The film is also looking for two photo doubles, a dark-haired man between 5’9” and 5’11” and one between 7’0” and 7’8”.

At the audition, hopeful New Jersey locals took a photo against a wall to see if they were a fit.

“I love Adam Sandler and all his movies and I like trying new things,” one young auditioner told PIX11 News.

It's been nearly 30 years since the first "Happy Gilmore" movie premiered starring Adam Sandler, who will take on his famous role once again in the sequel alongside stars like Allen Covert.
