has revealed the biggest shopping trends for the 2023 in a report titled FlipTrends 2023. Among the other insights, the report also revealed which was the most shopped product of 2023. And it is a bit of a surprise. According to Flipkart, “while oversized and unisex fashion wear were some of the most popular
lifestyle
searches this year, the timeless saree was the most shopped product in 2023 on Flipkart.”Within the Fashion category, women's clothing across ethnic, contemporary, and western wear remained at the top of shopping lists, the company added.
So, it was the sari that was the most shopped lifestyle product on Flipkart.
Other shopping trends
Flipkart also reported that shoppers indulged in an average of 7 hours on the platform, painting a vibrant picture of the evolving retail landscape. Notably, the platform welcomed 41 million new customers. According to Flipkart's insights, the bustling metropolises of Bangalore and New Delhi claimed the top spots on the list of cities with the most engaged shoppers. However, the retail fever wasn't confined to the metros alone. Tier-1, 2, and 3 cities such as Trivandrum, Patna, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Varanasi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Cuttack, Medinipur, and Bankura emerged as retail hotspots.
In the realm of gadgets, wireless headphones emerged as the undisputed champions, capturing the top spot on Flipkart's coveted gadget list. The platform also witnessed an impressive 3.2 times growth in premium laptops, reflecting a growing demand for high-performance computing devices. Surprisingly, the year 2023 witnessed a 100% surge in tablet demand, indicating a shifting consumer preference for versatile and portable tech solutions.
Fuelled by content creators vying for attention on social media platforms, action and adventure cameras experienced a meteoric rise, emerging as the fastest-growing segment under cameras. The category witnessed a staggering fourfold growth in 2023 compared to the previous year.
