NEW DELHI:

Virat Kohli

and

Gautam Gambhir

hugging each other during

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

vs Kolkata Knight Riders match became a huge talking point that even drew reaction from legendary

Sunil Gavaskar

and Ravi Shastri.
The official broadcasters aired the clip of Gambhir embracing Kohli during the KKR chase, prompting Shastri, who was commentating with Gavaskar, to remark that this moment deserves a fairplay award.

Gavaskar tickled his funny bone and went a step ahead to say "not only a fairplay award, they should be given an Oscar".

Both Kohli and Gambhir had heated exchanges on the field in the past but the duo seemed to have buried the hatchet as they shook hands during the

IPL 2024

match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.
A video went viral on social media showing the duo embracing each other and sharing smiles during the strategic timeout.
They engaged in a verbal altercation during IPL 2023 when Gambhir, now serving as Kolkata Knight Riders' mentor, was affiliated with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The confrontation started with a heated exchange between Virat and LSG pacer Naveen Ul Haq. Following the match, Gambhir entered the field and participated in another round of verbal altercation with Kohli.
