Jason Kelce
has a theory, and he’s sticking to it—Philadelphia Flyers mascot
Gritty
might just be his long-lost twin. The recently retired Eagles legend shared his hilarious claim on the New Heights podcast, arguing that the Flyers’ orange, wild-eyed mascot was “modeled” after him. His younger brother, Travis Kelce, isn’t convinced, but Jason isn’t letting it go anytime soon.

During the latest episode of New Heights, Jason, 37, made his case, linking Gritty’s debut in 2018 to the Eagles' Super Bowl win that same year. “I will take this to my grave,” he declared. “Gritty was started the year after the [Super Bowl] parade. That thing looks f------ just like me.”
Travis, always quick with a joke, tried to shut it down. “Shut the f--- up,” he laughed, insisting that Gritty looks nothing like his brother. But Jason doubled down. “Dude, they stole it. Look at those eyebrows!”
The Flyers’ Official Stance? A Coincidence, Not a Conspiracy
Gritty was officially introduced in September 2018, after the Flyers realized they were the only
Philly
team without a mascot. Christine Mina, the Flyers' senior manager of digital media, previously admitted that seeing the Eagles’ massive
Super Bowl parade
motivated them to create a mascot of their own.
But did they secretly take inspiration from Jason Kelce’s now-iconic parade outfit and personality? The Flyers aren’t saying—but Jason is convinced.
Jason Kelce’s Philly Roots and Hockey Connection
The theory isn’t completely far-fetched. Jason has been a longtime Flyers fan, often rocking their orange jersey and showing up at games. Before his football career took off, he even played hockey in his youth. If there was ever an
NFL star
worthy of a
Philly sports
mascot tribute, Jason Kelce would be high on the list.
Whether it’s a wild coincidence or an unspoken tribute, Jason Kelce is holding firm. “They’ll never admit it,” he joked. “They f------ modeled this thing after me.”
Travis? He’s just happy to roast his brother, quipping, “Your eyebrows are aggressive, but they're not that.”
One thing’s for sure—Gritty has some competition for Philly’s most beloved bearded icon.
