NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Tennis courts could replace the former site of Hotel Pennsylvania near Penn Station in Manhattan, according to reports.
The realty group Vornado was originally planning to put up an office building called Pen 15 in the space, but a weak commercial real estate market has put that on hold.
In the meantime, Vornado is presenting temporary options to city officials. These include tennis courts for the U.S. Open, red carpet spaces, or basketball courts, according to Crain's New York Business.
