BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police are using a cellphone video to try to identify two males who brutally attacked a 16-year-old girl on the subway last week, according to the NYPD.

The victim was walking on Nostrand Avenue around 9 p.m. on Feb. 27 when two males threw water and soda, according to police. She got on a No. 2 train at the Newkirk Avenue–Little Haiti station and the suspects followed her onto the train, police said.

One of the suspects punched and threw water in the victim’s face. A second suspect then jumped up and kicked the girl in the face, according to authorities.

The victim, identified as Sharla, recounted the harrowing incident.

"He punched me in the eye." She recalled, "I was like get off me, get off me, and he hit and spit at me."

The teen is still fearing for her safety.

"No one should put hands on females, even if they say there's two sides...I was upset, angry," she said.

Sabine Mondesir, the victim's mother, said she could not watch the entire video.

"I saw half, and I couldn't finish. It was painful to watch your kid get kicked. It was too much," Mondesir said.

The family said they have even gotten threats in the wake of the ordeal.

"I do feel helpless. I have the boys' names and where they go to school," Mondesir explained about her efforts with the NYPD. "I went to the precinct, but it's not moving as much. They have a lot of stuff to do, but I'm not getting the help I need."

PIX11 News emailed the NYPD regarding the family's concerns, but in an earlier correspondence, it said the investigation was still ongoing.

No arrests have been made.

"I just want them caught and get justice for my daughter," Mondesir said.
