CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) – A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday night for allegedly vandalizing a World War I memorial in Central Park, according to the NYPD.
The teen was charged with criminal mischief and making graffiti, police said.
The boy and two others allegedly spray-painted “Gaza” and “Free Palestine” on a statue of General William Tecumseh Sherman, located near 67th Street and Fifth Avenue and blocks away from demonstrations near the Met Gala, police said.
Mayor Eric Adams offered a $5,000 reward for the arrest of all three suspects. The NYPD also offered a $10,000 reward.
