LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A teenager is accused of killing a 61-year-old man in a Long Island home last week, police said Tuesday.

The boy, 17, was charged with murder for allegedly killing Adiel Umanzor-Martinez in his home on Maryland Avenue in Hempstead on Feb. 26, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Authorities found the victim with a blunt head injury in the upstairs bedroom at around 11 a.m., police said. Umanzor-Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the teen and the victim knew each other from the neighborhood. It was unclear what prompted the alleged attack.

The teen was arrested and his arraignment was pending Tuesday, officials said.
