technical textiles

will enhance the scope of the

textile industry

on a large scale, said commissioner of textiles Dr M Vallalar on Thursday.
He said more textile innovations like

IAF

’s ‘quantum stealth’ and ‘ripstop’ fabrics should be developed.
Vallalar was speaking as the chief guest at the Establishment Day function of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textile and Management (

SVPISTM

) in Coimbatore.

He appealed to entrepreneurs to utilise the support given by the Tamil Nadu government and work outside their comfort zones.
He emphasized on overcoming challenges in the textile industry by improving knowledge in designing and cost analysis.
Dr Alli Rani, director, SVPISTM, highlighted growth of the textile and technical textile industry. She spoke about student-industry collaborations in sustainability and circular economy.
