The Indian team departed for Australia in two separate batches on Sunday and Monday, and will have a 10-day acclimatization and training period before the BGT begins. However, there remains uncertainty over the availability of captain Rohit Sharma for the first Test because of personal reasons.

A Forbes cricket journalist shared a picture of the practice nets at the WACA, covered from public view with a black sheet on the grill.

The visitors are not training at the venue of the first Test, Optus Stadium, which is located just a five-minute drive from the WACA.

India decided to cancel their practice game against India 'A' who are also touring Down Under. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and his think-tank believed it to be more beneficial to spend extended time in the nets than play a practice match.
India, who slipped to number two in the World Test Championship (WTC) table, are coming from an embarrassing 0-3 whitewash in the home Test series against New Zealand.
India need to win four of the five Tests in the BGT to outrightly qualify for the WTC final for the third time in a row.
