Talking AI with tech leaders, from public to private leaders

4 months ago 9

(PIX11) -- Technology has the power to make our communities better.

Some tech leaders said AI cannot only be an exciting new tool for innovation, but can be instrumental in helping fight poverty and actually increase the workforce.

Jamie Dimon sat down with Monica Morales for a conversation about various topics. Dimon’s 60-plus page annual letter was released and said the U.S. economy is strong.

One of Dimon's areas of greatest excitement is the impact of AI.

Here’s what he said about AI:

It is “possibly as transformational as some of the major technological inventions of the past several hundred years: Think the printing press, the steam engine, electricity, computing and the Internet,” Dimon said.

Morales asked him what he meant by that at his new branch in the Bronx.

Dimon is not alone in his excitement about AI's social impact. Robin Hood New York City CEO Richard R. Buery Jr. was a guest on our Monica’s Makes It Happen TV show.

Buery launched the AI Poverty Challenge, a national $3 million competition to advance AI ideas and programs that help lift people living in poverty. Buery said if you have an idea, apply now. The deadline to register is June 26.

NYC’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Fraser, said AI is already being used for good city-wide.
