T20 World Cup Live: Agar strikes early to hurt Scotland

5 months ago 10

Australia vs Scotland T20 WC Live Score: Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl first against Scotland in the final Group B match of the T20 World Cup for both teams at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia on Saturday.

Following England's victory over Namibia in a rain-affected match in Antigua earlier in the day, Scotland need to pull off an historic victory to advance to the Super Eight stage of the tournament and eliminate defending champions England.

While the Scots are unchanged from a comprehensive victory over Oman in their last match, the Aussies, who are already qualified for the Super Eight and are looking to close out the Group with a fourth win in as many matches, are resting Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood with Mitchell Starc and Ashton Agar replacing them.

Yes, that's England who are cheering for their Ashes rivals today for a small favour, but mighty Aussies know only one thing and it's winning. A lot hanging around this match. Chris Sole is in for a chat. He says that it was a pretty Scottish start to the game between England and Namibia and they were wondering if it was going to be washed out. Having played earlier at this venue in the CPL, he hopes to provide the team with some inside information. Adds that they have been preparing well. Shares that they have been playing some good cricket and they should be good if they stick to what has been working for them. PITCH REPORT - Pommie Mbangwa is pitchside. He says the wind speed is 16 kmph which could play a big factor. Adds the square boundaries are 69 metres and 66 meters respectively. The straight boundary is 78 metres. Matthew Hayden joins him and says the groundsman has done a great job, unlike the other wickets. There is a lot of grass which will help the ball hold onto the pitch, it is hard and won't spin much. Feels the captain winning the toss should bowl first and tells that 175 should be a par score on this pitch.

The captain of Scotland, Richie Berrington says that they are okay with batting first. Feels that it is a good surface and should stay pretty true throughout. Adds that the batting unit has been doing well and will look to put a good score on the board. Shares that they knew that if they wanted to progress, they would have to beat some of the top teams and this is a great opportunity. Informs that they are going with the same team as the last game. Further says that it is about trusting the skills and that there is a lot of belief in the team.

The captain of Australia, Mitchell Marsh says they will bowl first as it looks like a good surface.
