Former India batsman
Ambati Rayudu
, who is among the Star Sports experts panel, picked his Team India squad for the
T20 World Cup
that surprisingly includes only one allrounder in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, while also featuring young pace sensation
Mayank Yadav
who is nursing an injury.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 2 to 29 in the US and West Indies; and the BCCI is expected to announce the Indian squad before the end of this month.
For the middle-order batting slots up for grabs, Rayudu went ahead with the in-form players Riyan Parag and Shivam Dube, while prefering veteran Dinesh Karthik over Rishabh Pant in the wicketkeeper-batsman's role. He also ignored KL Rahul who has been doing well for Lucknow Super Giants in the role of 'keeper-batsman.
Rayudu also included Rinku Singh as the designated finisher in the side, alongside Karthik in that role.
The top order features Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
There was no place for out-of-form Hardik Pandya, which left Ravindra Jadeja as the lone allrounder considering Dube hasn't been asked to bowl regularly by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Jasprit Bumrah leads the pace attack that also comprises Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav, who is still to feature in LSG XI since suffering an injury.
Besides left-arm spin allrounder Jadeja, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal are the two other designated spinners in Rayudu's squad.
