Suns Turn Down Kevin Durant Trade Offer From Western Conference Foe: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Trade discussions centered around Kevin Durant between the Phoenix Suns and interested partners around the NBA are have developed enough to result in actual offers from at least one Western Conference team.
The Suns, however, remain unmoved.
Sam Amick and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported on Monday, June 16, that the Houston Rockets have extended a firm offer to Phoenix for Durant, but the Suns don't feel it is substantial enough to accept.
"The Rockets and Suns have had meaningful discussions about a deal, team sources said," Amick and Krawczynski wrote. "Houston has a firm offer on the table but Phoenix, to this point, has been seriously underwhelmed by it."
The exact details of Houston's offer remained unclear as of Monday night.
Durant has named the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat -- along with the Rockets -- as his three preferred destinations, but neither the Spurs or the Heat has yet made an offer Phoenix finds acceptable.
"The Spurs, league sources say, have been conservative in their pursuit of Durant," Amick and Krawczynski continued. "As for the Heat, who would surely love to pair Durant with Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, it remains to be seen if they have the sort of package, or incentive, to pull it off."
The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team openly interested in Durant. However, the 36-year-old superstar has indicated that he won't sign an extension if Phoenix trades him to Minnesota, which has stalled movement on that front as of mid-June.
"The Timberwolves do not want to make a seismic change to a roster that advanced to the Western Conference finals if Durant is not on board with the move, team sources said," Amick and Krawczynski wrote. "The question now is whether there’s any chance of Durant coming around to the idea."
