NEW YORK (PIX11) – A foggy Sunday will end with heavy rain in New York and New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain is expected to develop west of New York City and travel eastwards between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., meteorologists at the National Weather Service say. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are also expected to add to the downpour.
The storm will likely make its way into the five boroughs after 8 p.m. Residents in New York and New Jersey will experience up to half an inch of rainfall per hour with flooding possible in areas with poor drainage.
Long Island and Connecticut will likely see about two inches.
The rain is expected to continue throughout the night into Monday, likely making for a soggy St. Patrick's Day Parade and messy morning commute.
