NEW YORK (PIX11) – Take a trip back in time when you head to the ball game this spring with the MTA’s nostalgia rides to Yankee Stadium and Citi Field.
To celebrate the start of baseball season, the New York Transit Museum will run nostalgia rides to the Yankees opener on March 27 and the Mets opener on April 4. Both trains will only run at 12 p.m. on each opening day.
Yankees fans will be treated to express service onboard the 1917-era IRT Lo-V train that departs from Grand Central-42 St station on the No. 4 train line. The train, donning the Yankees logo and pinstripes, will run non-stop service to 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
To accommodate even more riders, the Train of Many Colors will run immediately after the IRT Lo-V train and will also offer non-stop service to Yankee Stadium. As the name implies, the Train of Many Colors is made up of train cars from various eras that are painted in different colors.
Mets fans can board the transit museum’s Redbird trains from the 34 St-Hudson Yards station. The Redbirds will take flight on the No. 7 line making several stops to the Mets-Willets Point station in Queens.
Nostalgia rides cost the same as a regular subway ride.
