NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – With the start of school around the corner, college and university students can get discounts on their NJ Transit passes.

Full- and part-time students taking at least two courses can get 25% off monthly rail, bus and light rail passes bought on the NJ Transit app. And with every three months purchased, students will get a fourth month free.

NJ Transit waives fares for full week

For the fall semester, students need to purchase a monthly student pass on the NJ Transit app for September, October and November, after which a pass for December will be offered for free.

The discounts are only available for students at participating schools, which will offer Student Pass registration on their student portals each semester. Then, the student pass will appear as an option on the NJ Transit app.

Some schools participating in the NJ Transit discounts include:

  • Columbia University
  • Baruch College (CUNY)
  • Hunter College (CUNY)
  • John Jay College
  • CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy
  • Borough of Manhattan Community College
  • Bergen Community College
  • Fashion Institute of Technology
  • Fordham University

Find a full list of participating schools at NJ Transit’s website.
