NEW YORK (PIX11) – Lunar New Year celebrations are in full swing throughout New York City this weekend.
Traditional lion and dragon dancers will fill the streets of Queens on Saturday and Brooklyn on Sunday to welcome the new year. This also marks the year of the snake in the Chinese zodiac.
The annual Flushing Lunar New Year parade and celebration begins at 11 a.m. at the corner of Union Street and 37th Avenue. As the first and largest Chinatown neighborhood in Queens, the parade is expected to draw more than 100,000 spectators.
Hundreds will also pack the streets of Borough Park and Bensonhurst on Sunday for local annual celebrations.
Parades will also mean street closures for drivers in the area. Below are list of the streets that will be closed over the weekend.

- Union Street between Northern Boulevard and 37th Avenue
- Union Street between 37th Avenue and Sanford Avenue
- Sanford Avenue between Union Street and Main Street

Street closures for Brooklyn on Saturday
- Eighth Avenue between 49th Street and 50th Street
- Eighth Avenue between 50th Street and 60th Street
- Eighth Avenue between 59th Street and 60th Street
- 18th Avenue between 61st Street and 62nd Street
- 61st Street between 17th Avenue and 19th Avenue
- 62nd Street between 17th Avenue 19th Avenue
- 18th Avenue between 62nd Street 84th Street
- 18th Avenue between 84th Street and New Utrecht Avenue
