Street closures for NYC Memorial Day 2024 Parades

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – New Yorkers will commemorate fallen military personnel with a number of parades Monday for Memorial Day, meaning many street closures across the city. 

With parades in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, drivers should be aware of the following closures:

Rain, thunderstorms expected on Memorial Day in NY, NJ

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, starting at 11 a.m.

  • 3rd Avenue between 71st Street and 75th Street
  • 3rd Avenue between 75th Street and Marine Avenue
  • Marine Avenue between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue
  • 4th Avenue between Marine Avenue and 101st Street
  • 101st Street between 4th Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway

Little Neck, Queens, starting at 2 p.m.

  • Northern Boulevard between Nassau Road and Morgan Street
  • Northern Boulevard between Morgan Street and 244th Street
  • Northern Boulevard between 245th Street and 244th Street

Ridgewood, Queens, starting at 11 a.m.

  • Cypress Avenue between Myrtle Avenue and Putnum Avenue
  • Myrtle Avenue between Cypress Avenue and Cooper Avenue
  • Myrtle Avenue between 70th Street and Cooper Avenue

Rockaway Beach, Queens

  • Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 129th Street and Beach 130th Street
  • Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 129th Street and Beach 95th Street
  • Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 95th Street and Beach 94th Street

Staten Island, starting at 12 p.m.

  • Hart Boulevard between Forest Castleton Avenue
  • Forest Avenue between Hart Boulevard and Jewett Avenue
  • Forest Avenue between Jewett Avenue and Decker Avenue

Increased NYPD surveillance will crack down on drunk, speeding and reckless drivers during the holiday weekend. 

Beyond the parades, there are a number of Memorial Day events Monday to commemorate the holiday, like a free concert at Green-Wood Cemetery and a New York Philharmonic show.
