MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (PIX11) --- Long Island street closures and traffic delays are expected Saturday for the funeral of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, who was shot and killed in the line of duty earlier this week.
The funeral service will be held at Saint Rose of Lima R.C. Church in Massapequa at 10:30 a.m.
Drivers and residents in the area should plan to take alternate routes since Merrick Road from Hicksville Road to Park Boulevard will be closed in both directions from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., police said.
Diller, 31, was killed in the line of duty while conducting a traffic stop in Queens on Monday. Diller was shot after he and another officer stopped a vehicle that was illegally parked at a bus stop in Far Rockaway, police said.
Guy Rivera, 34, was charged with murder in the cop's death and attempted murder for trying to shoot his partner.
