MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police removed a large quantity of unlicensed marijuana from a Lower Manhattan shop where weed was allegedly sold to underage individuals, according to the NYPD.
In a photo released by NYPD officials on Friday, a table depicting various jars of marijuana, more than four dozen types of gummies, and more than 100 pre-roll joints were removed from the store.
“Public safety conducted an operation at a local smoke shop that doesn't own a license to sell cannabis,” the NYPD's 6th Precinct posted on X. “[The shop] previously sold pre-rolled cannabis to an underaged person. The officers successfully confiscated cannabis packaged in various containers.”
Marijuana has been legal for adult recreational use since 2022.
Adults 21 and older can legally possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis and up to 24 grams of concentrated cannabis for personal use under New York law. It is against the law for anyone under 21 to consume marijuana.
Additionally, only individuals or businesses with a state-issued license can sell cannabis for consumption.
