to become the team with the most sixes not only in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season but also across various T20 leagues following a thrilling encounter against Punjab Kings.

's explosive innings propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a remarkable victory, chasing down a formidable target of 215 with five balls to spare at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.

During the 69th match of the ongoing 17th edition of the cash-rich league, SRH smashed an impressive 14 sixes, taking their total tally to 160, while the Faf Du Plessis-led RCB have accumulated 157 sixes in the current edition. Other teams on the list with the most sixes in T20 series include Chennai Super Kings (145 in IPL 2018), Surrey (144 in T20 Blast 2023), and Kolkata Knight Riders (143 in IPL 2019).
Moreover, SRH equalled the record for scoring the most 200-plus totals in a single IPL edition, which stands at six, alongside teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL), Mumbai Indians (IPL 2023), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (

IPL 2024

).
In the match, PBKS won the toss and opted to bat first. Prabhsimran Singh's blistering half-century (71 off 45 balls), along with valuable contributions from Rilee Rossouw (49 off 24 balls) and Atharva Taide (46 off 27 balls), helped PBKS post a daunting total of 214/5 in their allotted 20 overs. T Natarajan (2/33) was the standout bowler for SRH.

In response, despite losing Travis Head early, Abhishek Sharma (66 off 28 balls), Nitish Kumar Reddy (37 off 25 balls), and Heinrich Klaasen (42 off 26 balls) played scintillating knocks to guide SRH to a thrilling victory, reaching 215/6 in 19.1 overs. Arshdeep Singh (2/37) was the most successful bowler for PBKS.
Abhishek Sharma was adjudged the Player of the Match for his blistering half-century. With this win, SRH climbed to the second spot in the points table, having secured eight wins and five losses from 13 matches, accumulating 17 points. On the other hand, PBKS languishes in the ninth position with five wins and nine losses, managing only 10 points.
