PUNE: SpiceJet commenced its Haj operations on Thursday with the inaugural flights departing from Srinagar to Jeddah, marking the beginning of this year’s holy pilgrimage. These
special flights
were operated using two wide-body
A340 aircraft
, each with a seating capacity of 324 passengers.
In addition to Srinagar, the airline will also operate special
Haj flights
from Guwahati, Gaya, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, and Vijayawada.
The A340 aircraft will be deployed from Srinagar and Guwahati, airline officials said.
Last year, SpiceJet generated a revenue of Rs. 337 Crore from Haj operations. Alongside the A340 aircraft, SpiceJet will also use its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for the special Haj flights.

Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, CPS Bakshi, and Airport Director, Srinagar International Airport, Javed Anjum along with other dignitaries flagged off SpiceJet’s inaugural Haj flight from Srinagar.
SpiceJet will operate special flights from Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, and Vijayawada to Jeddah between 9th May and 31st May 2024. Return flights from Medina are scheduled between 22nd June and 15th July 2024. SpiceJet will operate 102 special flights, catering to over 13,800 pilgrims during this special operation.
