NEW DELHI: The brand new
Amrit
Bharat Express, designed primarily to cater to the needs of migrant workers, is set for its debut one-time special run between
Ayodhya
, the birth place of Lord Ram, and Darbhanga via Sitamarhi (Sita’s birthplace) in Bihar.

Prime Minister
Narendra Modi
is likely to flag off the train on December 30 when he is scheduled to launch a Vande Bharat between Ayodhya and Delhi, and inaugurate a host of projects in the holy city.
Though the regular service of the first Amrit Bharat Express will be between Delhi and Darbhanga, the special run is significant considering that the train has been designed for people who travel long distance in search of work, amplifying the government’s thrust to make the life of the poor better. The railways will decide the route for operating the second such train soon.
Amrit Bharat trains will be non-AC trains with both seating and sleeper facilities. The Indian Railways has planned to operate them as overnight trains services connecting cities.
