NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- The Somerset Patriots, a Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, will be rebranding as the Jersey Diners for three games in the upcoming 2024 season, the team announced on social media.
The brand change, presented by Taylor Pork Roll, will include new uniforms, classic music, blue plate specials at the concession stands and more, according to the Patriots website.
"New Jersey is the spiritual home of the American diner, with more diners than in any other state...Today, I join with The Somerset Patriots for their three-game rebranding to 'The Jersey Diners' as a part of their Jersey Diner Initiative. New Jersey prides itself on being known as the Diner Capital of the World. As Governor, I commend the Somerset Patriots for recognizing the importance of diners in the Garden State, and I thank all who continue to support these local family-owned businesses," New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said.
The Jersey Diners will make their brand debut on June 8 versus the Hartford Yard Goats. The Patriots will also dawn the new brand on July 26 versus the Portland Sea Dogs and on Aug. 11 versus the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
