Some vehicles to be temporarily banned on MTA bridges due to high winds

NEW YORK (PIX11) – MTA Bridges and Tunnels will be banning certain types of vehicles on all of its bridges from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning due to high winds in the forecast.

Empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks will be banned on the bridges beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday, according to MTA Bridges and Tunnels.

The pedestrian walkways at the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will also be closed during this time, officials said.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels operates seven bridges in New York City, including the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge, the Henry Hudson Bridge, the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, the Throgs Neck Bridge, and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
