Snow from winter storm brings slippery sidewalks to New York City

SUNNYSIDE, Queens (PIX11) -- New Yorkers are slipping and sliding away due to certain property owners who do not live up to their responsibilities. 
 
Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at this point following the winter storm on Monday, there is no excuse. Every sidewalk needed to be cleared by 8 a.m. Wednesday and her inspectors are on it.

"Kids use the sidewalks, seniors use the sidewalks," Tisch said. "The sidewalks have to be safe for New Yorkers." 
 
First fines range between $100-$150, a lot more expensive than the $20-- 25lb salt bag.
