Slick roads seen on Long Island amid snowstorm

NEW YORK (PIX11) – The tri-state area is being hit with a snowstorm Tuesday morning, which is making for messy traveling.

Cars were seen driving on slick, wet roads in Centereach. Icy roads were also reported on I-80 in New Jersey.

Officials encouraged drivers to take extra precautions when traveling.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through early afternoon for much of the tri-state area. Folks can expect light snow to continue through early afternoon before tapering off by the evening. Temperatures will be near the freezing mark with a high of 33 in New York City and in the low to mid-30s in the suburbs.
