Siddharth Anand

, who is currently promoting his upcoming movie 'Fighter,' recently commented on the comparisons his film has faced with

Top Gun

since its promos were released a few weeks ago. The filmmaker clarified that his movie is distinct from the

Tom Cruise

film. He also emphasized that since there are not many films set in the world of

fighter

pilots, such comparisons are inevitable.

Siddharth mentioned in a conversation with Zoom that as a filmmaker, one has to be ready for comparisons like calling a film on planes 'Top Gun' because people might not have a reference point and might believe it's not creatively unique. He emphasized the need for more respect for Indian films, urging not to constantly assume that they are rip-offs. Siddharth also noted that inspiration can go both ways, and even in the West, people get inspired by content from the East.

Siddharth Anand appeared to reference a situation where a sequence in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning was perceived as similar to one in

Pathaan

. He acknowledged instances where he created sequences that later resembled those in a major Western franchise film. Siddharth clarified that he wasn't implying any copying, recognizing that there are limited action concepts that can lead to overlaps. He stressed the need for incorporating a distinctive factor to make each sequence stand out.
