Shweta Tiwari on shooting 'Kasautii' in a filthy lake: Kids were defecating there

Actor Shweta Tiwari talked about the hardships she had to face while shooting for 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay'. Recalling one of the initial days on the sets, the actor said in an interview that she shot at a lake where snakes were crawling and kids were defecating.

Shweta was speaking to Bollywood Hungama when she revisited the time of shooting the Ekta Kapoor show. She said there was a scene in which she and Cezanne had to stand in a lake for the entire night. Calling the whole experience 'gross', she said, "It was really gross. Cezanne Khan and I were shooting for a sequence in one of the early episodes, where my character falls into a river, and Cezanne’s character jumps in to save me. The story required our characters to stay in the water the whole night and only come out in the morning when someone else comes to help us."

Shweta went on to reveal that the next morning when they were still standing in the lake, they saw the real condition of the area. The actor said, "We were shooting this in Film City Lake and stayed in the water all night. In the morning, we realised that kids had been sitting on the edge of the lake and pooping there. I was like, 'Oh s***, we were in this water the whole night!' I also saw a snake crawling there, and realised it was in the water with us at night."

Shweta and Cezzane were one of the most loved on-screen pairs in the history of Indian television. They played the characters of Prerna Sharma and Anurag Basu, respectively. The show ran from 2001 to 2008 and featured a host of popular names, including Urvashi Dholakia, Ronit Roy and Hiten Tejwani, among others. The creators launched 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2' in 2018. It featured Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan in the lead, while Hina Khan, Aamna Sharif and Karan Singh Grover joined the cast later. However, it didn't turn out to be as successful as the original series.
