Showers expected in tri-state area, clear skies ahead for Labor Day

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The tri-state area saw a gray start to Sunday as showers rolled in through the tri-state area. 

It will be warm and stickier with highs in the low 80s. There is still a lingering shower chance in the evening hours.

Fantastic weather is in store for Labor Day with highs in the upper 70s and mostly sunny skies. Humidity will also begin to drop as cooler air behind a cold front pushes on through.

Crisp Fall air will arrive in the areas north and west of the city, especially in the early morning hours of Tuesday. 

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-70s with a dry feel. The sunshine continues through Thursday as high pressure sits over the region.  Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s.  Friday will be partly sunny and on Saturday there is a shower chance on the horizon.
