NEW DELHI: Seven Indian shuttlers, including former world champion

PV Sindhu

, have officially secured their berths for the Paris Games across four categories based on their

Olympic Games Qualification

rankings.
While Sindhu, along with ace singles men's shuttlers

HS Prannoy

and

Lakshya Sen

, had already cemented their spots, the formalities were concluded on Monday, the cut-off date set by the

Badminton World Federation

(BWF).

Under the qualification criteria, the top 16 shuttlers in men's and women's singles, based on their Olympic Games Qualification ranking on the stipulated cutoff date, secure their tickets to the quadrennial showpiece.
Sindhu, a former world champion and a two-time Olympic medalist, claimed the 12th spot, while Prannoy and Sen secured the 9th and 13th positions respectively in men's singles.

India's formidable men's doubles duo,

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

and

Chirag Shetty

, clinched the third spot at the conclusion of the Olympic qualification cycle, emerging as one of the country's prime medal contenders in badminton.
In the women's doubles category, the Indian pair of

Tanisha Crasto

and

Ashwini Ponnappa

earned their spots after finishing 13th in the qualification rankings. However, the duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand narrowly missed out on qualification.
