Semi-truck crashes into Popeyes restaurant in Brooklyn: NYPD

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A semi-truck crashed into a Popeyes restaurant in Brooklyn on Wednesday, injuring several people, according to the NYPD.

Police said the crash happened at Metropolitan Avenue and Vandervoort Street around 7:30 p.m. The truck also crashed into a white sedan, according to authorities.

The driver of the truck was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center with head pain, police said. The driver of the sedan was treated at the scene and a woman sitting inside the restaurant was treated for shock, according to authorities.

The FDNY and Department of Buildings were called to make sure the building did not suffer any structural damage, police said. It's not confirmed what caused the truck to lose control and no arrests have been made.
