HOBOKEN, New Jersey (PIX11) – The Hoboken PATH station has reopened after nearly a month of renovations, so what’s new for New Jersey commuters?
PATH riders may notice some aesthetic upgrades to the platforms but there are also multiple changes to the network that are expected to improve commutes.
Station enhancements include refurbished platform surfaces, replacement of steep, narrow staircases, fresh paint on station walls, ceilings and columns, as well as new tiling, lighting and signage.

Additionally, the agency has replaced the station’s 35-year-old track-switching system that was prone to mechanical issues. Representatives for the agency say it will make service more reliable with fewer delays and disruptions.

The 25-day closure began on Jan. 30 as part of $430 million PATH improvement program. More platform and track work will continue within PATH’s weekend and overnight schedules.
