FORDHAM, The Bronx (PIX11) – A furniture store owner was housing migrants at a second store location in the Bronx, sources said Wednesday, two days after authorities shut down a housing operation at his Queens shop.
The city’s Department of Buildings and the FDNY were on the scene of Ebou Sarr’s Bronx shop on East Kingsbridge Road Wednesday afternoon.
About 60 people were being charged $300 a month to live at the Bronx store, according to a complaint filed Wednesday with the city's Buildings department. The FDNY told PIX11 News they found about 45 beds in the building after responding to a complaint.
The FDNY reported an "illegal conversion" of the basement at the Kingsbridge Road location, buildings records show.
Officials on Monday found dozens of Senegalese migrants in the basement of his Queens business, Sarr’s Wholesale Furniture, on 132-03 Liberty Ave. in Richmond Hill.
