Scooter in Bronx crash that killed girl, 15, was stolen: sources

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The scooter a 15-year-old girl was riding on when she was killed in a crash in the Bronx on Tuesday was stolen, sources told PIX11 News.

Dafne Juan, 15, was on the scooter driven by an 18-year-old man when they collided with a Honda SUV while making a right turn onto West 192nd Street, according to authorities. The SUV driver remained at the scene.

The man driving the scooter was Juan's friend, her family told PIX11 News. She was the second oldest of her sisters and remembered for being kindhearted.

The 18-year-old man was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital with serious injuries, according to authorities. Juan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charges are pending for the SUV driver, according to authorities.
