NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Schools in New Jersey have announced delays for Thursday due to the snow and ice in the forecast.
A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected to create slippery, hazardous driving conditions in parts of the tri-state area starting Wednesday night.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for interior southern Connecticut, the Lower Hudson Valley, and portions of northeast New Jersey. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 9 a.m. Thursday.
Up to an inch of snow and sleet followed by a light glaze of ice is expected in these areas, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is expected to taper off by midday.
